Drink. Dance. Laugh. Love. Stay. Eat
We are a family of crazy individuals who love what we do, and believe in creating an environment where people can enjoy themselves, while indulging in some of the best food and drink Cornwall can offer. The Land – Lord Michael Jones has been the keeper of the keys at the Rod for over 25 years and has created a unique environment for those who love food, entertainment and a proper old-fashioned pub. Consequently, you will find that the Rod and Line is “an unapologetically, back to basics, spit and sawdust” Inn. With low level lighting, an array of table candles and quirky ornaments, it “is the very embodiment of unchanging timelessness, in a world of ever shifting certainties[1].” The fire is always lit and while you won’t find matching decor or plush carpeting, you will receive a warm and friendly welcome. If you have the good fortune to encounter the locals you will soon discover why the Rod and Line is such a stalwart of the local community, and why people travel for miles to come and visit. With its large open fire and its perfectly kept real ale, whatever the season it is a cosy escape. Its seasonal fresh seafood is a delight, and if you fancy seeing your crab scuttle or picking your lobster before you eat it, just make sure your around when the fishermen deliver. Over the last few years, the Rod has developed beautiful, boutique rooms, which in total contrast to the pub itself are attractively decorated, with all the luxuries you would expect from a hotel room, allowing you to stay and enjoy the Rod at its best. However or whenever you choose to visit, we can guarantee that the Rod is always an experience.
